• Fill with 12 gallons of water and make sure the lid is fully secured before use
• Check water levels daily and refill as needed, discarding any stale water first
• To train chickens, remove other water sources and tap the nipples until water fills the red cup — once one bird starts drinking, the rest will follow
• Refill roughly every 4-6 weeks for 3-5 chickens, every 2-3 weeks for 6-11 chickens, or every 1-2 weeks for 12-15 chickens
• Set on blocks or bricks if you want to raise it to a more comfortable drinking height
